The Beach at Fort De Soto Park

The Beach at Fort De Soto Park
One of my goals for 2010 is to check out as many beaches as I can here in Florida. The main reason being that each beach seems to be unique in its own way. With that in mind, I decided to go and check out the beach at Fort De Soto Park yesterday. Fort De Soto Park was named America's Top Beach by TripAdvisor in 2009. It appears that they loved the "spectacular combination of soft white sand, calm, clear water and a laid-back atmosphere." I can completely agree with all the above, as I found it to be my favorite Florida beach so far. It really amazed me as to how white the sand was and how clear the water appeared. Unfortunately, it was still a tad too cold to actually get in the water.

A Quick Video

Here is a really quick video I took to give you an idea of what the beach looks like:

As you can see, it was not nearly as crowded as some of the other beaches I have been to. Then again, it was a weekday so that probably has a lot to do with it. Either way, it felt a lot more secluded than some of the popular beaches I have been to.

A Few Details

The really cool thing about Fort DeSoto Park is that it has around 3 miles of beaches. There are also a bunch of trails to ride bike or rollerblade on, which is something I plan on doing the next time I head back there.

It also has a dog park if you want to bring your furry companion along. They even have a beach that allows dogs to swim in the water, which is pretty difficult to find.

So there you have it, another beach to check off the list. You can check out the beaches section for a list of all the beaches I’ve checked out so far.
