Mauritius is an archipelago in the Indian Ocean. The island got its independence from the British in the year 1968.The languages spoken are French and Creole. The island has been described by a poet as the original heaven on the lines of which the heaven is created. The island has been divided into 9 divisions for the convenience of administration. The climate is tropical on account of its proximity to Tropic of Capricorn.

A traveler can plan the itinerary to Mauritius on the four directions North, East, south, and south-east. Grand Bay is a popular tourist place in the north. It has a beautiful beach by name “La Cuvette”. It has shopping malls, restaurants, and is also famous for night life. A public beach with pubs and shopping areas can be found in Pereybere. The biggest Hindu temple, the Maheshwarnath built in honor of lord Shiva can be visited in Troilet which is the longest village of the island.

The East has more of native attractions of the island. A colorful open market where the inhabitants of the east, meet in the village “Flacq” One of the most beautiful beaches of Mauritius which should not be skipped by a traveler is “Ile aux Cerfs”.It is a water sports paradise. South-east has not lagged behind in offering the traveler the beauty of Mauritius. A wild life enthusiast traveler can have treat to his eyes when he visits the wild life parks “lle aux Airgettes” and “Domaine du Chasseur”.

The west has contributed its share of nature to the traveler. The changing colors of the soil on account of the erosion of the volcanic ash are sighted in “Chamarel”. A bird park stretching to 25 hectares containing endangered birds species from various places can be seen in “Casela”.

Mauritius is also famous for water sports. Wind surfing, sailing and water skiing is done from the famous beach Grand Bay
